HoopFile view, check & convert embroidery files

Embroidery file not showing on your machine?

A file can open on your computer and still be rejected by an embroidery machine. Check the items below in order, using the manual for your exact model. Converting the format alone cannot resolve every cause.

  1. Extract the download first

Design bundles often arrive in a ZIP archive. Extract it and select the actual stitch file. Renaming image.jpg to image.pes does not create stitches.

  2. Check the exact model and file version

Confirm the supported extension and version in your manual. A machine accepting PES may still reject some PES versions. A working preview does not certify machine compatibility.

  3. Compare the usable embroidery area

Check width and height against the machine’s supported embroidery area, not the plastic hoop’s outside dimensions. The viewer compares stitch bounds. If it says rotation is needed, the file has not actually been rotated.

  4. Check stitch and colour limits

Some machines reject designs with too many stitches, colour changes or combined patterns. These limits depend on the model. A small physical design can still exceed its data capacity.

  5. Check the USB setup and filename

Follow the model’s instructions for USB media, folder placement and filenames. Try an unchanged known-good design. If that is also missing, investigate the USB or transfer workflow before converting again.

  6. Ask the designer for a suitable file

If the design is oversized, damaged or unsupported, request a file for your model and embroidery area. Shrinking stitch coordinates without adjusting density can change sewing quality. Keep the original and test on scrap fabric.

Manufacturer guidance

Requirements differ by model. Consult your machine manual; these Brother support examples help identify possible causes.
