The two formats
.U01 · BARUDAN
Barudan U01
Barudan commercial machines read U01. It uses needle-selection commands rather than a thread-colour palette. Check needle assignments against the threads loaded on your machine.
.PES · BROTHER, BABY LOCK
Brother PES
Brother's own format, used across Baby Lock and Bernina Deco machines. It carries thread colours and a design thumbnail, so a converted file arrives with its palette already set.
What to watch for
Needle numbers do not tell us thread shades
U01 controls needle selection but does not supply an RGB thread palette. Assigned colours distinguish blocks; they cannot identify which physical threads were loaded on the Barudan machine.
Home machines handle changes differently
PES uses a thread-colour sequence rather than your original Barudan needle setup. Check each colour change in the converted file, particularly when the source returns to a needle used earlier.
Industrial dimensions may not fit a home hoop
The converter does not shrink, split or re-digitise the design. Check PES support and the usable embroidery area on the destination model, then test before production.
