Convert VP3 to JEF

Translate a VP3 design for a compatible Janome or Elna JEF workflow. VP3 RGB shades are mapped to Janome palette entries. Check both the resulting thread choices and the destination hoop; the design is not resized automatically.

The two formats

.VP3 · HUSQVARNA VIKING, PFAFF

Husqvarna VP3

The current Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff format. It carries thread colours, and unlike the older HUS it can hold larger designs.

.JEF · JANOME, ELNA

Janome JEF

Janome and Elna machines read JEF. It carries thread colours drawn from Janome's own thread chart, along with the hoop the design was built for.

What to watch for

Janome's palette can shift VP3 shades

JEF output uses a fixed thread chart rather than VP3's RGB values. Review converted colours against the original design, especially nearby shades that might map to the same palette entry.

Hoop names are not interchangeable

The preview compares stitch dimensions with common rectangles. It does not transfer a VP3 hoop selection into a verified Janome machine setup. Use the usable embroidery area in your manual.

Keep the native design for editing

The download contains translated machine stitches, not the original digitising objects. Change lettering, density or design size in appropriate embroidery software before preparing the machine file.
