The two formats

.XXX · SINGER XL, COMPUCON

Singer XXX

Singer and Compucon machines read XXX. It stores thread colours alongside the stitches.

.PES · BROTHER, BABY LOCK

Brother PES

Brother's own format, used across Baby Lock and Bernina Deco machines. It carries thread colours and a design thumbnail, so a converted file arrives with its palette already set.

What to watch for

Compare Brother colours with the original

XXX can contain RGB colours; HoopFile's PES version 1 output uses Brother palette entries. Similar source shades may map differently, so retain the original thread chart and inspect the converted file.

Follow the destination transfer instructions

A readable PES file is only one part of transfer. Your Brother or Baby Lock model may require a particular folder, card, USB format or connection method.

Machine stitches are not editable artwork

The stitch geometry is translated without recovering original lettering or fill objects. Keep the source XXX and its native software project if you will need to redesign or resize it later.
